The hobby started for me in 1983 with the purchase of a Tamiya Frog. A group of us at that time formed S.C.O.R.R. (Space
Coast Off Road Racers) and built a poor excuse for a track for us to race on. This went on for awhile and after the debut
of RCCA magazine around 1986, other tracks started popping up and I began racing at those as well. These were mostly On-Road
courses for IMSA style racing and some dirt oval as well. Around 1989, PRD (Performance Research & Development) was
formed and began making foam tires for the on-road use. High banked superspeedway racing was also taking off and my local
track turned out to be the most popular concrete oval in the country! This was Lake Whippoorwill International Speedway. Major
events were taking place and manufacturers were putting emphasis on this track for advertising their products through sponsorships,
etc. My emphasis on this type of racing and the newly aquired sponsor (Revtech Motors) made it difficult to maintain the tire
business as well as my day job and family life. PRD quit producing tires; however, kept on racing and today (19 yrs later)
is Primarily involved in scale truck pulling.
